Compact the Inbox for Faster Mail
If you want to get the best performance and stability out of Outlook Express, then it's important to compact the inbox on a regular basis. This will help speed up the startup time of Outlook Express and it will also reduce the chance of your email becoming corrupt, damaged or locked.
Compacting your inbox in Outlook Express is very simple, just do the following steps:
- Open Outlook Express
- Click Tools -> Options
- Click on the Maintenance tab
- Click on the Clean Up Now button.
- Click on the Compact button
Your inbox should now be compacted and ready to use. It might take a few minutes depending on inbox size.
